Does Global Literary Studies Have an Agenda for Translation Studies?

A UW Roundtable with Professors Gordana Crnković, Gary Handwerk and Naomi Sokoloff

Three faculty members most responsible for the design of UW’s proposed new major in Global Literary Studies (GLITS) will discuss the role that Translation Studies at UW can play to the optimal benefit of a well-rounded curriculum and student learning in the new program. Join us for presentations by Professors Gordana Crnković (Slavic Languages and Literatures and Comparative Literature), Gary Handwerk (Comparative History of Ideas and Comparative Literature) and Naomi Sokoloff (Near Eastern Literatures and Civilizations and Comparative Literature), and what is sure to be lively audience discussion in exploring the principal opportunities, both broad-based and specific, that these two emergent programs at UW - Global Literary Studies and Translation Studies - can offer each other as they contribute to the wider dissemination and appreciation of global literature.
